Common questions

Answers to the questions we are asked most often.

What is a certified translation?

A complete translation with a signed statement that it is a true, complete and accurate translation of the original, made by a translator competent in both languages. Ours is issued on the company's letterhead, with the original bound into the same file and the company seal on every page.

Will my translation be accepted?

That depends on the authority that receives it. Some accept a certification issued by a company; others require a sworn translator or one on the embassy's list. Tell us where the document will be submitted and we explain the position before you order. See Acceptance by country.

Can you translate from a scan or a photograph?

Yes, provided every part of the document can be read. We ask for a clearer copy if a seal, a number or a line cannot be read.

How are names written?

If you send us your passport, names are spelt exactly as in the passport. Otherwise they are written in the spelling usual in Egyptian documents, the same way throughout.

What do I receive?

A PDF containing the translation set out like the original, the certificate of translation accuracy and a copy of the original, every page sealed and numbered. See Certified translation.

How can an embassy check the translation?

With the QR code, or the certificate number and verification ID printed on the certificate, anyone can open the certificate's signed record on this site and compare a PDF copy with the file we issued. See Information for receiving authorities.

Do you notarise or legalise translations?

No. In Egypt the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authenticates only translations made by the body that issued the document or by approved public bodies. We tell you which route the destination requires.

Will you complete or correct a document?

No. We translate what is printed on a genuine document, as it is printed, including any visible error. We never add, complete or change information.

Are my documents kept confidential?

Yes. They are used only to answer your request and to prepare and certify your translation, and are shown to no one except you and the people you ask us to send them to. See Privacy.

Which languages do you translate?

From Arabic into English, and from Arabic into Spanish. See Documents and languages.
